DSE (Display Screen Equipment) Assessor Training

CIEHF Accredited Training Course badge 2022.jpg

For most people, regularly using Display Screen Equipment (DSE), including desktop computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones, is just a natural part of modern life.  But when DSE is used for work, employers have legal obligations to identify, assess and manage any risks to health this can cause.

Health risks traditionally linked to DSE use include musculoskeletal disorders (aches & pains), work-related stress and visual fatigue.  But we now also understand more about the importance of regular movement & changes of posture throughout the day, and breaking up any long spells of sitting.

For DSE use at work, the principal legal duty employers have is to carry out individual DSE risk assessments (sometimes called desk or workstation assessments) for staff.  Effective DSE assessments are not only beneficial for workforce health and morale, but good for business too.   To be compliant, valid and worthwhile, DSE assessments need to properly consider relevant individual, organisational and environmental factors.

Gosh Training's one day virtual live DSE Assessor Training course provides attendees with the skills, knowledge and resources needed to carry out full DSE risk assessments, or just to act as a point of contact for particular DSE issues (e.g. chair adjustment or workstation set-up) as they arise.  Our DSE Assessor Training course is also suitable for anyone who has an interest in, or responsibility for, staff and their welfare at work.  This can include line managers, and facilities, occupational health, HR and/or safety professionals.

Suitable for office, home and hybrid working, practical DSE assessment techniques and the resolution of common issues are a key part of our training.  This builds on theory elements including ergonomics, DSE related ill-health, the importance of movement and postural changes, the (UK) DSE Regulations, DSE policy, Health & Safety Executive guidance and best practice.

Regularly reviewed and updated, our DSE Assessor Training course has been assessed and accredited by the prestigious Chartered Institute of Ergonomics & Human Factors (CIEHF) every three years since 2015.    In that time we have worked with organisations of all kinds, from multi-national corporations to national and local governments, legislatures, NHS Trusts, small businesses and private individuals.

On successful completion of the course, attendees receive a completion certificate bearing the CIEHF logo, and access to a wide range of assessor resources to support them in the future.
